Who will determine the types of projects being developed?

Ultimately, the principal partners will have the final say on the projects being developed.  It is critical that the overall quality of the projects be outstanding right from the outset.  As such, we will maintain strict and high standards for the caliber of projects in production.  Eventually, as Emergent grows, the Board of Advisors may take a larger role in the selection process.

Will you be accepting submissions for screenplays?

Eventually, yes, but not at first.  We have the initial slate of projects lined up already (through 2011) in accordance with a very strategic plan to move Emergent Films forward and establish the quality of projects we intend to produce.  We realize that this essentially appears to cut writers and directors out of the loop.  This will not be the case in perpetuity.  Eventually (probably late 2010 or early 2011) we will establish a submission process and standards to open up the writing/directing portions of the process. Most likely, the first available opportunities will be in the development of short films for the thriller showcase series.

I am a student.  How can I participate?

Saying Goodbye and See No Evil will function as the test-run for Emergent Films.  Once completed, the process will be evaluated and refined before establishing the procedures for getting involved as a student.  This information will be published on this site in the first quarter of 2010.

I am interested in participating as talent/crew.

If you are interested in participating, please visit the Sign-Up page and fill out the form.  While there is no requirement when signing up, we wish to stress that all interested parties will be required to submit resumes before being accepted into the projects.  We will only be accepting experienced, talented crew as department heads.  Similarly, it is imperative that all on-camera talent be skilled and experienced as well.  As you all know, poor acting is an easy giveaway for low-budget films.  It is our goal that the budgets of our projects never reveal themselves on camera.

Are there other ways to get involved?

Yes.  We will be continually seeking investors willing to participate in select projects and donors to fund Emergent’s educational efforts in general.  Additionally, each individual project has specific needs and requirements that could benefit from community participation.  See No Evil, for example is benefiting from donated catering services and an extensive supply of construction materials for the set being built at Genesis Studios.  Obviously, there will be more people generously and sincerely wanting to participate than we can reasonably accommodate.  We appreciate all who are interested, but please be understanding of the limitations of getting too many people involved on any one project at a given time.  It is our stated desire, however, that Emergent Films grow and create more opportunities for everyone who is interested in this exciting industry.
