What kind of projects are available for investment?
The projects will vary from year to year, but our plans include 1-2 shorter films (25-50 minutes) that will comprise a DVD library or possible series. These stories will be in the thriller genre–similar in nature to Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Twilight Zone, Tales From The Dark Side, and others. Additionally, there will be a a family-friendly, feature length film produced each summer for DVD, cable, or theatrical distribution. All of these projects will function as standalone entities for investment purposes. In other words, even the single episodes of the shorter film collection will have its own investor group.
What is the minimum investment Emergent will consider?
Each project is a standalone investment opportunity and each project will have a unique budget appropriate to the subject matter. As such, the minimum investment will vary from project to project based on the budget and the number of investor positions available. It is our expectation that the feature films will require minimum investments of $25,000 per investor and the short films will require minimum investments from $5000 per investor.
Will past investors be given any priority to reinvest?
Yes. Previous investors will be offered a first-refusal opportunity for subsequent projects. Although we want our investor pool to continually expand, we also want to see our investors profit from their affiliation with Emergent and have the opportunity to roll their earnings into future Emergent projects.
How is revenue shared?
The revenue-sharing arrangements will also vary from project to project, but will be similar in nature to the following: the investor group will receive 90% of all profits until such time as they have recouped their full investment. Once 100% recoupment has been met, any deferred payments to selected participants (a lead actor or actress) will be paid. The remaining revenue will be distributed equally (50%/50%) between Emergent and the investor group. Each individual investor will own his/her share of revenue based on their percentage participation of the total investment group.
